
Deliverable Three: The Human Eye
For my third and final deliverable, Illustration of the Human Eye, I wanted to
create a piece that would represent the medical
side of scientific illustration. Working with or
diagnosing real human beings, as many medical
professionals do, means a single misidentification
could produce catastrophic results for
practitioners and patients alike. Following the
example of one of the case studies covered
in Chapter 2, “Generative AI Limitations in
Science: The Eye,” I decided that a human eye—a
notoriously intricate organ to diagram—would
be the ideal subject matter to compare between
authentic scientific illustration and AI-generated
imagery. The resulting piece was an Illustration of
the Human Eye
